RESEARCH SUPPORT FOR STATISTICS

Central Systems Statistical work can be performed on all OIT central systems. SAS statistical software is available on these resources. Various tape reading devices are available to extract data for use in research. Contact the RCI Helpdesk for assistance in utilizing these resources.

Large Data Set (LDS) User Group and Services The LDS user group operates a highly secure computing environment for conducting high capacity large data set analysis. The LDS system is limited to research computing only. Numerous types of tape reading devices and conversion utilities are available within the LDS system for data extraction and preparation. LDS software resources include SAS, SPSS, LISREL, SUDAAN, STATA and IMSL. Users with specific needs for large-scale statistical work should write help@ldsNOSPAM.rutgers.edu for more information.

Office of Statistical Consulting The New Brunswick/Piscataway Statistics Department of Statistics formed in 1983 the Office of Statistical Consulting (OSC) to serve as a resource in statistics for university faculty, staff and students. Initial review of project is done at no charge. The service provided by the Office of Statistical Computing is primarily fee-based but waivers can be applied for by faculty and students not supported by grants. The OSC can be reached via email or phone number: 732-445-2696.

Statistical Software The university software portal at http://software.rutgers.edu has several statistical software packages available for purchase at greatly reduced prices. These packages include Maple, SAS, SPSS and Stata. Questions regarding these packages can be sent to MSSG's Software Group.

Statistical Training Classes in SAS and SPSS are regularly offered through the Newark and New Brunswick Campus Computing Services Education Series. Information on course background and schedules can be found at:

SAS and SPSS Support Rob Bowell, User Services Support Specialist within New Brunswick Campus Computing Services, is available to provide technical assistance to faculty and staff in the use of SAS and SPSS. Mr. Bowell can assist as a technical intermediary between researchers and SAS/SPSS technical support. He can be contacted at his email address.

Other Statistical Resources If there are additional statistical resources available on campus that should be included on this page, please provide them to OIRT.
