Event Management Software helps track and manage the details associated with an event. There are several systems available.

These three are designed specifically for handling conferences.

  • Open Conference Systems has features the help call for papers and accept paper and abstract submissions, register participants, create a web site, etc. It is a free open source software package created by the Public Knowledge Project that uses Apache, PHP, and mySQL. This software can run on any operating system that supports Apache/php/mySql (which includes Apple OSX, Linux, and Microsoft Windows among others)
  • Conftool is a commercially supported product which has a free license for academic, non-professionals and 'non-regular' organizers for events of 150 participants or less. Conftool also uses Apache, PHP, and mySQL. This software can run on any operating system that supports Apache/php/mySql (which includes Apple OSX, Linux, and Microsoft Windows among others). There is also a Conftool Pro which is designed to handle larger events. There are a number of demos installed here for those who wish to take a peek.
  • WCMT stands for Web Conference Management Tool. This is a open source project which uses the same Apache, PHP, MySQL? stack and thus runs on most operating systems. WCMT was originally developed as a student project at DTI-SUPSI, in Manno, Switzerland.
